Für 2x2 Wochen wird der Reflector Contemporary Art Gallery von 2 jungen Kuratorinnen ein buntes Sommergewand geschneidert.
Im Zeichen der Performancekunst bespielen an vier Wochenenden acht junge Künstler*innen(paare) die Galerie und nutzen diese als Bühne, Projektraum und Labor.
Die Mitwirkenden sind dazu angehalten, das Thema 2x2 frei zu interpretieren; ob als Zahl, Paar, Zeitdauer, Form etc.
Ganz im Sinne der Galerie geht es nicht nur darum, die eigenen Praktiken performativ wiederzugeben, sondern den Raum auch als eine Plattform für künstlerisches und kuratorisches Experimentieren zu nutzen.
Wir laden das Publikum ein, einzutauchen in die kurzen erfrischenden Sommerflirts mit Buch, Foto, Musik, Malerei, und Performancekunst.
Dabei soll eine Atmosphäre geschaffen werden, die Gedanken anregt und den Austausch fördert.
Die Künstler*innen aus Bern und Umgebung stehen am Anfang ihrer künstlerischen Karriere. Sie werden die Galerie jeweils für ca. 2 Stunden nutzen, um ein Kulturhäppchen zum wochenendlichen Sommermenü auf Kollektenbasis zu offerieren.
Die Performancereihe wird mit der Vorstellung des Programms und einem Apéro am 11.07.2019 eingeläutet. Danach folgen Klänge und Rhythmen, um in die Sommernacht zu tanzen.
Nina Selina Liechti, 1992 Hat Kunstgeschichte und Wirtschaftsinformatik an der Universität Bern studiert. 2018 begann sie den Master Kunstgeschichte mit Ausstellungs- und Museumswesen an der Universität Bern und hat im Rahmen dessen ein Austauschsemester an der Sorbonne VI in Paris absolviert. Davor war sie zwei Jahre als Hilfsassistentin am Lehrstuhl für Kunstgeschichte der Moderne und der Gegenwart an der Universität Bern angestellt. Liechti engagiert sich bereits seit Beginn ihrer Studienzeit für diverse Kulturprojekte in Bern, unter anderem als Kollektivmitglied im Vermittlungs- und Kunstprogramm Étude der Kunsthalle Bern. 2x2 in der Reflector Galerie ist nach der Kunstsuppe, 2013 ihr zweites kuratorisches Projekt.
Anouk Wüthrich, 1994 Hat Kunstgeschichte und Germanistik an der Universität Bern studiert. Seit diesem Jahr ist sie Teil des Studiengangs Kunstgeschichte mit Ausstellungs- und Museumswesen an der Universität Bern. Wüthrich arbeitet seit eineinhalb Jahren als Hilfsassistentin am Lehrstuhl für Kunstgeschichte der Moderne und der Gegenwart an der Universität Bern und engagiert sich als Vizepräsidentin in der Fachschaft UniART. 2017 war sie Mitorganisatorin des 93. Kunsthistorischen Studierenden Kongresses mit dem Titel Frouäsach. Das Sommerprogramm 2x2 in der Reflector Galerie ist Wüthrichs erste kuratorische Performance.

For 2x2 weeks the Reflector Contemporary Art Gallery will be tailored by 2 young curators in a colourful summer robe.
In the spirit of performance art, eight young artists (couples) will perform in the gallery on four weekends and use it as a stage, project space, and laboratory.The participants are required to interpret the theme 2x2 freely; whether as number, pair, duration, form etc.
In keeping with the gallery's philosophy, it is not only a matter of reproducing one's own practices performatively, but also of using the space as a platform for artistic and curatorial experimentation.
We invite the audience to dive into the short refreshing summer flirts with book, photo, music, painting, and performance art.
The aim is to create an atmosphere that stimulates thought and encourages exchange.
The artists from Bern and the surrounding area are at the beginning of their artistic careers. They will use the gallery for approx. 2 hours each time to offer a cultural snack for the weekend summer menu.
The Entry is free - but there is collection which will be fully used to fund the artists.
The performance series will begin with the presentation of the programme and an aperitif on 11.07.2019. Sounds and rhythms follow to dance into the summer night.
Nina Selina Liechti, 1992 Studied art history and business informatics at the University of Bern. In 2018 she began her Master's of Arts in Art History with special qualification in Curatorial Studies and Museology at the University of Berne and completed an exchange semester at the Sorbonne VI in Paris. Before that, she worked for two years as an student assistant at the Chair of Modern and Contemporary Art History at the University of Berne. Liechti has been involved in various cultural projects in Bern since the beginning of her studies, including as a collective member of the Étude education and art programme of the Kunsthalle Bern. 2x2 in the Reflector Gallery is her second curatorial project after Kunstsuppe in 2013.
Anouk Wüthrich, 1994 Studied art history and German language and literature at the University of Bern. Since this year she has been part of the Master's of Arts in Art History with special qualification in Curatorial Studies and Museology at the University of Bern. Wüthrich has been working for one and a half years as an student assistant at the Chair of Modern and Contemporary Art History at the University of Bern and as Vice President of the UniART Student Council. In 2017 she co-organized the 93rd Art History Student Congress entitled Frouäsach. The summer program 2x2 in the Reflector Gallery is Wüthrich's first curatorial performance.

Um den Schlaf gebracht ist ein audiovisueller Versuch, der den Schwindel einer Nacht einfängt.

Lara Schaefer, 1995 Studium am Schweizer Literaturinstitut in Biel und an der Universität der Künste Berlin. Aktuell schreibt sie für die nächste Ausgabe des NZZ Folio und wird ab Herbst Schauspielregie an der ZHdK studieren.

Lara Schaefer, 1995 Studied at the Swiss Literature Institute in Biel and at the Berlin University of the Arts. She is currently writing for the next issue of the NZZ Folio and will study Direction at the ZHdK starting in autumn.

Your Mother Whispers, Silently Weeping
Die Performance beginnt um 20:00 und dauert ca. 45 min. Kommen und Gehen möglich.
Schwarzweissaufnahmen der Berner Alpen werden mit einem Geflecht aus Video und Gesang, sowohl aufgenommen als auch live von Jennifer gesungen, umspielt. Die horizontale Weitläufigkeit der Bergwelt wird durch den experimentellen Gesang- und Klangteppich intensiviert, geprägt von der Melancholie, die die Freiheit mit sich bringt.
Die atmosphärische Arbeit von Jennifer lädt zum Eintauchen, zum vergessen und wahrnehmen ein. Zum wehmütigen Dasein und erst nachher wieder aufwachen.
Jennifer Merlyn Scherler, 1996 Kunststudentin, freischaffende Video- und Fotografin. Arbeitet als Forschungsassistentin am Institut für Experimentelle Design- und Medienkulturen in Basel. Nach dem Propädeutikum für Kunst und Design an der Schule für Gestaltung Biel und einem begonnenen BA Studium der Fotografie an der ÉCAL, Lausanne, befindet sie sich zurzeit im BA Studium Bildende Kunst an der HGK, Basel.

Your Mother Whispers, Silently Weeping
The performance starts at 20:00 and lasts about 45 minutes. Come and go possible.
Black and white recordings of the Bernese Alps are surrounded by a network of video and song, both recorded and sung live by Jennifer. The horizontal vastness of the mountain world is intensified by the experimental vocal and sound carpet, marked by the melancholy that freedom brings with it.
Jennifer's atmospheric work invites us to immerse, to forget and to perceive. To a wistful existence and only to wake up again afterwards.
Jennifer Merlyn Scherler, 1996 Art student, freelance video- and photographer. Works as research assistant at the Institute for Experimental Design and Media Cultures in Basel. After completing her Propädeutikum of Art and Design at the Schule für Gestaltung Biel and a started BA in Photography at ÉCAL, Lausanne, she is currently studying Fine Arts at the HGK, Basel.

Olivia und Kim bedienen sich einer Methode, um gemeinsam zu Denken und Arbeiten.
Orientiert am Vorgehen der sogenannten Korrespondenzkunst entstehen in 2x2 Wochen mindestens zwei Zeichnungen pro Woche. Beide Künstlerinnen senden sich am selben Tag eine Zeichnung, wobei auf die vorhergehenden Zeichnungen Bezug genommen wird.

Ausgehend von dieser gegenseitigen Annäherung wird der 27. Juli bespielt.

Olivia and Kim use a method to think and work together.
Orientated on the so-called art of correspondence, at least two drawings per week are produced in 2x2 weeks. Both artists send each other a drawing on the same day, referring to the previous drawings.

Sonicdream: Through Hidden Places
Die Performance beginnt um 20:00 und dauert ca. 30 Minuten.
Moritz Tobler und Mirko Kircher alias Sonicdream improvisieren mit elektronischen Klängen und Malerei. In einem sich stetig wandelnden Dialog ergänzen oder widersprechen sich die beiden Künstler mit ihren Medien intuitiv und unmittelbar. In Form eines halbstündigen Auftritts komponieren die beiden Künstler ein Stück, das mit der Wahrnehmung der ZuschauerInnen spielt, gefühlvolle, träumerische Atmosphären schafft aber auch abrupte dramaturgische Wendungen zulässt und das lebendige Zusammenspiel der Medien Bild und Ton auf eine innovative Art künstlerisch gestaltet.

Sonicdream: Through Hidden Places
The performance starts at 20:00 and lasts about 30 minutes.
Moritz Tobler and Mirko Kircher alias Sonicdream improvise with electronic sounds and painting. In a constantly changing dialogue, the two artists complement or contradict each other intuitively and directly with their mediums. In the form of a half-hour performance, the two artists compose a piece that plays with the perception of the audience, creates emotional, dreamy atmospheres, yet allows abrupt dramaturgical turns and artistically shapes the lively interplay of image and sound media in an innovative way.
